STOP SB 20!
Senate Bill 20 shows no care for women, children, or families. Republican leaders introduced this under the cloak of night because they know North Carolinians are against further abortion restrictions. In fact, a 2023 poll from Meredith College shows 57% of North Carolinians want to keep or expand the current laws on abortion. This extreme abortion ban imposes significant, and in many cases insurmountable, barriers on people trying to get an abortion early in pregnancy. It will inevitably lead to women and girls being forced to carry a pregnancy and give birth against their will. Even health care providers have warned against the dangers of this bill. They have said further restricting abortion in North Carolina is dangerous and will restrict their ability to provide critical care. And yet Republican legislators have moved forward with just such a dangerous bill.
